Notes and History |
A small central coast route functioning as a Rockland bypass,
ME 90 is not defined until 1946-7, composed of the former routing
of ME 137 south of Camden at Rockport to Warren,
extended in 1948 to include the former routing
of ME 194 from Rockport to West Rockport (although strangely on the 1948
map both routes are signed on this alignment).
In 1951 its routing between West Rockport and
Rockport at US 1 was
shortened, probably due to the designation of the present-day US 1
bypass alignment; additionally, in 1961, it was realigned onto the northern
and current Camden Road bypass instead of the old ME 137 routing along 4
Rod Rd (see ME 137 for the former terminus), which can be seen on these
1941 topos (warning: large images):
east and
west.
Its termini and routing otherwise have remained approximately constant.
