Notes and History

ME 32 is a small central coast route and an original highway since the Maine Great Renumbering. Its terminus in southern Bristol at ME 130 has never moved; from there, as originally designated, it proceeded along new routing to Waldoboro, where it crossed US 1 and continued on the former alignment of ME 132 to near Coopers Mills, partially also cosigned with former ME 101 (which was now ME 17). From there it continued all the way to Benton and ME 11/ME 139 (now ME 11/ME 100/ME 139) via new routing until 1954, when it was cut back to Winslow and given a new terminus at ME 100/US 201. The old alignment to Benton became ME 100A; its incarnation as ME 32 can be seen on the 1943 topo (warning: large image).

NAVTEQ has another curious error, routing ME 32 north from its terminus at Bristol Rd/ME 130 and Indian Trail along ME 130 to ... terminate ... somewhere. Google Maps seems to stop using ME 32 past Foster Rd, but no log I have access to shows ME 130 having ever been part of the routing, not to mention being utterly pointless.
