Notes and History

The termini above are based on 2006 data and do not reflect the 2006 routing changes.

This appears to be the internal designation for Business ME 25, the former routing of ME 25 that was bypassed by the Westbrook Arterial (see also ME 25W). Originally, its routing was from the corner of Main St and Larrabee Rd along Main St, branching west at Cumberland St to continue on Main St to intersect mainline ME 25 at the corner of New Gorham Rd and Wayside Dr (carrying the mainline in from the south). It was first designated with the construction of the Westbrook Arterial in the late 1970s. Even after the Westbrook Arterial Extension and Rand Rd interchange with I-95 were constructed, however, mainline ME 25 remained on Main St and Larrabee Rd until 2006-7, after which ME 25 was routed on the extension and Rand Rd (linking directly with I-95) and the Business 25 designation placed over the old routing along Larrabee Rd, Main St and the western portion of Brighton Ave. Its new terminus is now at Rand Rd and Brighton Ave. Curiously, TO 25 signage is on Larrabee, not Business 25.
