Notes and History
ME 207 as originally designated in 1925 ran between Scarborough and Oak Hill at US 1 and Prouts Neck, almost identical to its routing now. However, it was a slightly longer route immediately after the Maine Great Renumbering as it extended from there through Eight Corners and South Gorham to Gorham itself to terminate at the confluence of ME 4, ME 25 and US 202; later it was extended all the way to Sebago Lake in 1937-8 and the intersection of ME 35 and ME 114. It was not until 1946-7 when it was cut back down to its initial minor routing which it maintains today, giving the orphaned alignment as an extension to ME 114.
ME 207 appears to have been cut back to its junction with ME 77 since this route log based on field reports; Eric Bryant notes an END 207 sign at the junction, and the alignment of Black Point Rd down to Prouts Neck simply has a lone JCT 77 approaching the new terminus. This is confirmed on GIS plots which show the old alignment now as townway.
