Notes and History |
ME 205 as originally designated in 1925 ran between Saco at NEI 1 (now US 1) and West Scarborough at US 1. In 1926-7 it was extended to Cornish at ME 25 using an arc routing via Limerick and Waterboro (see ME 110). After the Maine Great Renumbering, the portion between Old Orchard Beach and Cornish became part of new route ME 5 and the remaining portion to US 1 at West Scarborough became part of the extended ME 9; the number then lapsed until 1937-8 when assigned to a new routing it maintains today between Presque Isle at ME 163/ME 167 and Caribou at ME 161, paralleling US 1 to serve communities on the eastern side of the Aroostock River. |
