Notes and History
There has only ever been one US 201 Alternate in Maine, signed in 1954 over the former alignment of US 201 from Skowhegan into Norridgewock along US 2, and from there north to US 201 via Anson, Madison and Solon. This routing persists today, with the following known changes:

Norridgewock. US 201A (and ME 8) currently run on a bypass alignment north of the 1928 Kennebec River crossing in Norridgewock that is now signed as (New) Madison Rd. The former alignment appears to be Sophie May Ln, and can be seen on the 1943 topo (warning: large image). This alignment persisted after the genesis of US 201A as seen on the 1956 topo (warning: large image); the present alignment is seen by the 1965 general atlas.

Old Point (Norridgewock-Madison). US 201A (and ME 8) now occupy a curve-straightened alignment to the west signed as Old Point Avenue and (New) Madison Rd. The former alignment is Father Rasle Rd and can be seen on the 1955 topo (warning: large image). The present alignment is seen by the 1965 general atlas.

Although ME 201SH was a fairly obvious attempt at designating another ALT US 201, it was never promoted and was eventually decommissioned.
Modern US 201A is part of the Arnold Highway; see US 201.
