Notes and History
ME 184 appears to have always occupied approximately its current routing since its initial designation in 1925 between Ellsworth at ME 183 (now ME 3) and its dead-end in Lamoine Beach via North Lamoine, Lamoine and East Lamoine. The original western terminus was south of the present-day one, at what is the corner of Buttermilk Rd and High St today and going down to Jordan River Rd (now ME 204) and from there into Lamoine; this seems to have been abandoned by the Maine Great Renumbering and the route shifted to its current northern terminus at US 1. The route has not significantly changed since.
ME 184 is the major component of the Douglas Highway.
