Termini and Mileage (2006) |
|
Notes and History |
ME 157 as originally designated in 1925 ran between Mattawamkeag at NEI 15 (now US 2) and Millinocket, where it terminated into private road. The portion to Medway was part of former lettered highway K. After the Maine Great Renumbering, this routing was partially cosigned with new route ME 11 from Mattawamkeag to Medway until 1955 when ME 11 was given a new direct Milo-Millinocket routing; the co-signage then switched and ME 11 was co-signed with ME 157 south to Medway, conveniently establishing ME 11 as the terminus (although the physical terminus was still the same and ME 157's routing never actually changed). This routing persists today. |
