Notes and History |
ME 154 as originally designated in 1925 ran between Dover-Foxcroft at ME 104 (now ME 6/ME 15/ME 16) and West Enfield at NEI 15 (now US 2) via Medway. In 1928, the Medway alignment (later part of ME 16 and now no longer numbered highway except for the portion that is ME 116 near Howland) was dropped from the routing and the highway shifted south to LaGrange along what was previously ME 155, then up what was previously ME 156 to West Enfield again. This new routing was unfortunately short-lived as it became part of the new ME 100 in 1931 (subsequently part of the original alignment of ME 16 and now part of ME 6 [partially with ME 16 and ME 155]), and the number apparently lapsed until after the Maine Great Renumbering when the number was applied to its current and since-unchanged routing between Brighton and Ripley. |
