Notes and History
ME 147 as originally designated in 1925 ran between Skowhegan at NEI 15 (now US 2) and Solon at NEI 20 (now US 201A). With the signage of US 201A in 1954, ME 147 was absorbed into the new US 201 routing and the number remains decommissioned. Although it is tempting to propose E Madison Rd as an old alignment of ME 147, the route always traveled to the west of Wesserrunsett Lake (as it does today as US 201), and there is no map evidence that it did otherwise.
