Notes and History
This appears to be the internal designation for Business ME 137, ME 137's former alignment in Winslow-Waterville prior to the 1997 ME 137 bypass alignment along Carter Memorial Drive. ME 137C splits off from ME 137 at the intersection of China Rd and Carter Memorial Drive, then proceeds to US 201, continues with US 201 past ME 100A to turn west and cross the Kennebec River at Bridge St, then leaves US 201 as Spring St to ME 11/ME 104, turning southwest with them as Silver St to intersect mainline ME 137 at the junction of Silver St, Kennedy Memorial Drive and Carter Memorial Drive.
It is presumed that the routing was designated after ME 137's southern shift with the bypass' completion, but for some reason it does not appear in my 2002 MDOT route log. It does appear as active in the 2006 log.
