Notes and History
ME 129 has always been another coastal "dead-end" route in the string of consecutively-numbered routes that streak that region; as originally designated in 1925, it ran between Damariscotta at NEI 1 (later US 1, and now US 1B) and Chrismas Cove, apparently terminating at the very tip of the point on the roundabout at the end of Shipley Rd. The alignment was truncated to the intersection of the highway and Middle Rd in South Bristol, just over the bridge, sometime around 2003-4. Its north end is a useless multiplex with ME 130; see ME 130 for the history of this change.
