Notes and History	ME 123 appears to have always occupied its current routing since its initial designation in 1925 between the tip of South Harpswell and Brunswick at ME 124 (now ME 24). After the construction of Brunswick Naval Air Station, the old intersection was lost and its terminus shifted eastward, where today it ends at ME 24 carrying the former alignment of US 1 (see ME 24 and US 1).
