Termini and Mileage (2006) |
|
Notes and History |
ME 106 as originally designated in 1925 ran between Brewer at NEI 1 (now US 1A) and Ellsworth again at NEI 1 (now ME 3/COASTAL US 1), using a peculiar bend with Blue Hill as the apex and a section partially co-routed with then-ME 102 along the coast. After the Maine Great Renumbering, this alignment became part of new route ME 15 (a portion later becoming part of ME 172) and the number lapsed until 1937-8 when it was applied to the current routing. Originally its terminus in Leeds was at ME 3, but this was when ME 3 was still co-routed with ME 100 in this region, along with US 202 (so only the numbers have changed, not the location). Its other terminus is similarly unchanged. |
