Notes and History |
ME 105 as originally designated in 1925 ran between Bangor at NEI 1 (now US 1A) and Dover-Foxcroft at ME 104 (now the junction of ME 6/ME 16, ME 7, ME 15 and ME 6/ME 15/ME 16), corresponding to the former lettered highway X. In 1931, it was given the former alignment of ME 104 through Dover-Foxcroft to Greenville Junction, where it too terminated at the waters' edge. After the Maine Great Renumbering, its entire alignment became part of new route ME 15 and the number was assigned to new routing between Augusta and Camden over which it has run ever since and appears to have changed little. Interestingly, it does not terminate in the large western traffic circle in Augusta, but rather on the eastern "rotary" at Cony St with ME 9, ME 17, ME 100, US 201 and US 202. |
